I am not vegan or even vegetarian. I do however like good food!! The newest food truck delivers both vegan food and good food. I had the corn dog. It was the perfect size not greasy and taste fabulous with the Dijon mustard. The hot dog had a nice tooth to it, firm and very pleasant. I also had the kale salad. It was small, just the right size for the price, packed with lettuce, kale, pumpkins seeds and cranberries. Great combination of strong bitter flavours and sweet with the cranberries. I am going to try everything on the truck. One of my work mates had the no piggy pulled pork sandwich and fries, she thought it was wonderful. Another person I work with had the burger with pineapple and really enjoyed it.
The truck is bright green hard to miss. Try it out. They are on Facebook: www.facebook.com/karmacamealeon. There was an article in the Spec, and on CBC.

climbing the walls literally!!
My daughter wanted to learn to climb walls, she is 22. I did tell her she made me do that a few times. She did not see the humour in it. Oh well.
So we signed up for lessons at Gravity Climbing Gym70 Frid Street
Hamilton, Ontario L8P 4M4 Canada

Gravity Climbing Gym
It was a blast! The instructor was wonderful and patience, even with my slow climbing. she challenged us to more difficult walls all the time. My little girl discovered that she is not that afraid of height after all.
A lovely way to spend and evening. We are going back on Wednesday night.
I need to work on my upper body strength.
On another note my husband and I are still walking.

Long time and new adventures
Last weekend was the 200 anniversary of the Battle of Stoney Creek. Took our grandson. No picture. I am really starting this up again to keep track of a goal I have had for several years. I want to walk the Camino. My girlfriend, who is the same age as I am, was going to do this with me next year. As always life has a way of changing plans and she had to embark on her adventure this year. Her blog of that adventure can be found here:
http://nancyonthecamino.wordpress.com/
She is doing great, I am so proud of her, she did not have time to get ready for it in a way you would want to because of the life change circumstances. Nothing fatal so no worries there.
So I was planning to go on my own next year. Staring at the end of April. My husband did not like this idea of me travelling alone. So he is going to join me. I am now excited anew about this prospect. He is not one for exercise at all. The journey starts with a single step and ends in 800 kms.
We have started a walking program, together. We are starting small, 15 minutes every other day this week. We walk again tonight. On Sunday it changes to 17 minutes. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, then Monday 20 minutes and so on. By Canadian Thanksgiving we will be up to 60 minutes every other day. Then until March we will increase the frequency until we are walking almost every day for one hour. Weather is not a factor. We have to do this outside as we would on the camino.
Then in March we will start walking with backpacks and hiking. On June 26, 2014 we will fly to Paris, then on to St. Jean Pied du Port, then start our journey on June 28, 2014. We hope to be in Santiago de Compestella on August 2, 2014, which happens to be our eleventh anniversary.
We both need to lose weight to give our knees a break. This is also part of the preparation. So off we go.
Wish us luck.

This is a sun rise over the lake near where I live, I thought it was appropriate.

Ottawa street farmers Market
On Saturday my husband and I bought our groceries at the Ottawa Street Farmer’s Market. There is no better way to shop for your food then directly from farmers, and outside. There is lots of local produce, eggs, meat, ice cream, baked goods and coffee. The only thing missing is dairy. You can accomplish almost all your grocery shopping at this market.
The web site is: http://ottawastreetfarmers.com/
It has this weeks shopping list which tell you what is available and in season, with recipes, The back ground picture sometimes makes the information difficult to read.
We bought all the fruit and vegetables we needed for the week, as well as Dr. Scopes ice cream our bread and meat.
This really is the only way to shop.

Hamilton Fridge Festival
It is back, and larger then last year, so many choices to little time. I would need the week off to see all the productions. The web stie is found here, go and enjoy a live performance for less then the cost of a movie and support artists!!

snow, in like a lamb out like a lion
So what I learned as a child has proven to be true once again. If March comes in like a lamb it goes out like a lion and visa versa. I have some picture from today, in the lovely city of Hamilton. the Thistle has frost on the tips of it's leaves it is lovely. Then my forsythia covered in snow! I have never seen that before. I could not resist taking a picture of my Holly, it always looks lovely covered in snow, the last picture is new leaves on my elderberry tree.
