So what I learned as a child has proven to be true once again. If March comes in like a lamb it goes out like a lion and visa versa. I have some picture from today, in the lovely city of Hamilton. the Thistle has frost on the tips of it's leaves it is lovely. Then my forsythia covered in snow! I have never seen that before. I could not resist taking a picture of my Holly, it always looks lovely covered in snow, the last picture is new leaves on my elderberry tree.

I am an average middle aged women living and working in Hamilton. I love this city. It is a city, it has good points and bad. Interesting characters and beautiful places.

Hamilton on a Friday night. - Rev wear fashion show

On March 23rd RevWear hosted it's 9th Annual Fashion Show. At the Lyric Theatre (434 King Street West, Hamilton. The theme for the fashion show was respect. The fashion was wonderful and interesting.
Designers this year include Timothy Maton, Valerie Cousens, Stephanie Anson, S.J. Salise, Munna Cleland, Kit Simmons, and Kathryn Harte;Performers this year include The Human Race, members of the Hamilton Aerial Group, The XOExOh’s, Defining Movement Dance, Kristin Cleland, and Jonathon Busuttil
The Hamilton Aerial Group was fabulous, and more then worth the cost of admission. This is a wonderful night out for anyone who likes to explore some of what Hamilton has to offer in the fashion world. There where body shapes of all sizes in the fashion show, and the clothing is made of reused materials. It was wearable and fun. You can find Rewear's web site here: http://revwear.ca/ The history of this group is here.

Not Hamilton at all but fun
We had our Grandson all weekend. He went to a small town to visit his Great Grandparents. Life is great when you are 16 months old. We had Canadian Chinese food with his Great Grandparents, then we went to the fish ladder. He squealed when he saw the fish jump.
He climbed up on the rocks, and sat on Grandpa's shoulders. He was so much fun, and very very tiring. We ended the day at a Friends farm, where he tried to eat pine cones and mullen seeds. Two face plants in the field and lots of joyful free running. He was dirty and happy. I think he ate his pound of dirt in one sitting

Day one of my posts - 15 degrees in March
Right off the bat I want to point out that this is really written by a middle aged women. Technology and I sometimes do not agree. I took some pictures to post on my phone, but I now don't know where my cord is to connect it to the computer, once I find it I will post the pictures.
It is Sunday March 11 and it is 15 degrees out. All our windows are open, getting the stale air out of my house. Today I went for a perfect walk with my husband. We went to the green houses in Gage Park for the spring flower festival. I recommend it. You can find opening hours ect here:

The best parts of my city are free and this is no exception. There is a 1960 theme, including tie dye and vw bugs. There are coy and turtles, as well as a scavenger hunt for kids.
We proceeded to walk to Cannon Coffee. Our favourite coffee house in our end of the city. They use detour coffee, fair trade and locally roasted. They make the best Latte. Today's menu was butternut squash waffles ,sneaky way to eat vegetable, worth every yummy yummy bite, with cinnamon whipped creme, apple slices and maple syrup. They had two fitatta's one basil with Bocongini cheese and the other sun dried tomato. This came with a mixed green salad, with dried cranberries and almond slices.
I love this coffee shop the owners are fabulous people there was wonderful live music today. I forgot to ask who they were. I have to ask next time I am in. It was just two people, one on guitar and the other on drums. The Guitar player sang some country songs, some old gospel. They were great.
We continued out walk and visited the Karma room on Cannon just west of Ottawa Street. A lovely store with Antiques and new merchandise as well.

You can come in get a coffee to go, but my favourite thing to do is sit and share a table with a stranger, and get to know someone new in my community. I love Hamilton for that, strangers never seem to be that way for long.
